The Media Tracker: the return of energy!
In a surprising turn of events this week, energy is back in the ad game
The Media Tracker
This week we're diving into, I can’t believe I’m saying this, energy companies!
What's 🔥 Right Now
The Return Of Energy
Standard is running a week-long HPTO across Air Mail, driving awareness around the rooftop solar industry and GAF Energy.
RBC Capital Markets is running ads across Semafor this week, driving awareness towards their podcast, specifically an episode on the oil and gas market and recent surges in M&A activity.
Shell is running ads across Axios this week, with snippets from their event, A View From the Top, where Shell highlights how they’re bringing more clean energy to more people.
Newsletter Rundown
ExxonMobil is sponsoring Politico AM and PM this week, drawing awareness towards them working to lower carbon emissions and the need for policy support.
National Corn Growers Associationsis sponsoring Politico Weekly Agriculture this week, focusing on their pursuit for clean energy.
BP is sponsoring Axios Markets, Semafor Americana, and Puck’s The Best & The Brightest this week, driving awareness to how they’re investing in America.
The thought: in a surprising turn of events this week, energy is back in the ad game. At the start of Biden’s presidency we saw a lot of ad dollars from energy and climate focused companies. Within the past two years, spending has almost halted. While Standard and Shell were the only true energy focused companies running on-site (with one being a HPTO), it may be a sector that is slowly inching their way back into the decision maker’s eye via media advertising.
